Under Construction

We finally made some progress with the back bedroom. This room will be the future nursery, and there used to be an exterior door on this wall. Over the summer, we got an estimate for ripping out the door and replacing it with a window. Patrick thought the quote was too much, so things stopped there. I was frustrated and ready to give up. Thanks to my father in law, that didn't have to happen! Today, a carpenter he uses in Thibodaux came and ripped out the door and replaced it with new sheetrock and siding. We still have to float the sheetrock and paint the exterior, but that's Patrick's job (hopefully he'll get some help)! The ceiling in this room is also beautiful popcorn, so that's going to come down soon. I'm still superstitious, so I don't really plan on doing anything else to the room for a few months, but at least we've made progress.

Murtle

Our dog, Murtle, is extremely needy. If Patrick and I are sitting on the couch, she has to be next to/on top of one of us. Laying on us is not enough, we must be petting her the entire time. So I asked Patrick how he thinks Murtle will adjust to having to share the attention come Spring. His reply, "I'm not gonna play with the kid like I play with Murtle." Oh really???? We'll see how that turns out!

We're having a baby!

So I've decided to jump on the blog bandwagon...

Patrick and I are starting our family! It all started in early July, when I reluctantly took a pregnancy test. I just knew that it would be negative and I would be disappointed. However, I was wrong! It took about two seconds for the test to say pregnant, and it did say pregnant because I wasn't dealing with pluses and minuses so I got the digital kind. I was shocked! Patrick said he was expecting it, and he wanted to tell everyone at work that day! I voiced my opinion on waiting, and he did, for about a week. So here we are, 3 pregnancy tests, 3 doctor appointments, 2 sonograms, and 2 months later and I am 14 weeks 4 days pregnant! Today's heartbeat was 153 bpm, and we scheduled our big ultrasound for October 19!!!
